Calling Me Misdiagnosed

from The Autism Album by Ryan McReynolds

/

about

There was some lady I came across in an autism group who supposedly taught special education and supposedly has a child or 2 on the spectrum.

Ok this lady seemed so super excited to talk to me, an individual on the spectrum, but the last time the 2 of us communicated, she used the words there is nothing wrong with you (in the manner of that being autistic automatically means there is something wrong with you).

She also claimed I was misdiagnosed and I was like excuse me, I was diagnosed in 2 different states (Michigan my birth state and the state I live in now, and Texas where I lived back when loads of Michiganians moved to Texas for work and my dad was among Michiganians who applied for jobs in Texas).

I mean the 1st time I was diagnosed was at the Methodist Medical Center in Houston, Texas and that was when I was 2 and a half, and I was re-diagnosed in Michigan at age 7 by Dr. Andrew Maltz one of Michigan's best at diagnosing autism.

Well this rude lady scoffed at the fact I was diagnosed in 2 different states and I told her she was judging me and she claimed she was not judging me.

She also bragged about having a child on the spectrum and having taught special ed for 4 years (gee I wonder why she doesn't teach special education now, she even reminds me of when my parents would show school assignments I did to prove I am autistic, whenever anyone scoffed and said "oh he's not autistic." and all that).

I wrote and recorded this song after the incident, I blocked this lady online too by the way

lyrics

1st verse
You said there's nothing wrong with me
I already freaking knew that
But I know you refused to see
Cause you won't listen to the facts

Chorus:
You scoffed at who the hell I am
You're calling me misdiagnosed
You act like auties are brain dead
But I think that your brain is toast

2nd verse
Do you think we auties are dumb?
Just cause you were a damn teacher
Do you think we're a pile of gum?
Do you think we're stupid creatures?
(Chorus)

3rd verse
Don't tell me I'm not autistic
Who gave you the right to judge me
I think that you are pathetic
Cause I know you refuse to see
(Chorus)
